I began suffering from depression early on in college. I got out of it, but after graduating it returned again. My boyfriend eventually left me, contributing my depression as part of it. He left me at a very low point in my life, and I spiraled even deeper. I lost weight, couldn’t eat, and began seeing a therapist. I got lower, and one day when I was not feeling good, my emotions overwhelmed me and I attempted suicide. I woke up the next morning and called a friend to take me to the hospital. I spent two days in the ER, and then six days at an inpatient psychiatric center. It’s been just over two weeks since my attempt, and I’m grateful every day that I wasn’t successful. Life has more to offer than just pain, and now I have a second chance to go through with my plans to attend law school.
